Fangirl By Rainbow Rowell

17286849

Summary: (Goodreads)

A coming-of-age tale of fan fiction, family and first love.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan . . .

But for Cath, being a fan is her life — and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

I think that this book is so awesome! I love it so, so much that it totally deserves a Friday Favorite spot! This is book is about my life- well not really… but I could totally relate to the whole fingerling part as I used to write Harry Potter fan fiction. YES! I used to write Harry Potter fan fiction. Anyways, like I said that book is an awesome one. If you have a hankering for some contemporary books, this should be first on the list. Fangirl is definitely a coming of age story, but not like those that we have seen before. It has so many unique elements that make it stand out. Rainbow Rowell did an amazing job with the plot, the character developments and her writing style is just so amazing. Please check out this book when you can! I promise you that you won’t be disappointed!

Read- A- Longs

jonah-hill-fangirl

So as I was browsing through the many YA based groups on Goodreads, I stumbled upon a thread that was entitles “Read-A- Long”. I came upon the same bookish topic on BookTube as well. I finally caved into my curiosity and decided to check ’em out. This is what I found out.

A Read- A-Long is synonymous to a book club. It is when a group of friends get together to choose one book to read for a specific amount of time and either have a weekly discussion for a couple of chapters or have a ginormous discussion on the entire book after reading it. I thought it was so cool! Because not only do you finally get to books on your TBR pile, but you also get to make more bookish friends and get a better input to what they thought of the book and basically talk about books endlessly with people who share the same passion. I mean, what can get any better than that?!

So in light of that, I thought that maybe I can start something like that and everyone who follows my blog would always be welcome to join. I currently have something brewing behind the scenes. I don’t want to spoil anything yet, but you guys will know ahead of time 😀 Annnnnndddddd!!! I will be collaborating/ co- hosting with a fellow book blogger 😀 YAY! So I will let you guys know ahead of time and hopefully you guys can join us 😀

Are you currently participating in a Read- A-Long? If so, let me know down below so I can check them out!

The Guardian Society By J.D. Kirkland

18801774

Summary: (Goodreads)

Law #1: Respect, honor, obey, and protect your master.
Law #2: Never involve yourself in a vampire-human relationship with your master.
Law #3: Never reveal your true identity.

All Sean had to do was follow the three basic laws, but there was something about this girl, something he felt he had to fix. The world had taken her captive. Her mind and body were lost inside it, and without his help, he wasn’t sure she would survive.

Mylo was just trying to face the world after her brother died. She was trapped in her own skin. The easiest way to suppress her pain was to drown herself in booze and with parties. But Sean gave her attention and taught her about the Guardian Society, what it was created for, and what it truly meant to feel trapped.

The Guardian Society was such a fun read with awesome, witty characters, creative world building and an even brilliant plot!  The characters are so interesting and so much fun to read! And did I mention, in this paranormal novel, the vampires have an original language of their own?! How can that get any better in world building??? This book is far from your typical paranormal/ action/ adventure/ romance YA novel! This takes the vampire world to a whole other level!!!
