Top Ten Books On My Spring 2014 TBR List

#10 Insurgent By Veronica Roth

I’m still in the middle of Divergent and I already know that I do not want to stop reading this trilogy which is why this book had made it to this week’s top ten. It’s just so intriguing! I’m in love with everything about it. And so far, I’ve been faring pretty well in avoiding all those spoilers of this book and of the final book. Hope my streak continues 😀

#9 The Girl of Fire and Thorns By Rae Carson

This book has been on my TBR list for awhile now so I figured, ‘why not move it to the top of the TBR pile and read it for spring?’ And so that’s exactly what I had done. I moved this book to the top and I shall read it any day now 😀 Lately, my brain has been craving for a good fantasy read and this book seems to meet all of the necessary requirements to satisfy that craving. I am so excited to read this book and plus, the female protagonist ALMOST has the same name as me 😀 LOVE IT!

#8 Cinder By Marrisa Meyer

I have heard nothing but ah-mazing things about this book and I can’t believe that I finally got my hands on a physical copy, a paperback copy. I was aiming for a hardcover copy but, yeh know, beggars can’t be choosers. Anyways, I absolutely can’t wait to read this fairy tale retelling of Cinderella!

#7 This is What Happy Looks Like By Jennifer E. Smith

I read a single chapter from this book and I was instantly hooked. I am loving the writing so far and the emails that were in it. I think that it will make a good contemporary read 😀

#6 Burn for Burn By Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

I have heard both, good and bad things about this book. I heard that it was like a Gossip Girl-esque kind of read which I’m a big fan of, so I would definitely love to see how this book goes.

#5 Eleanor and Park By Rainbow Rowell

I read Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl and I absolutely fell in love with her writing. I have heard nothing but ah-mazing things about this book as well and I think that this may be the contemporary read to complete my summer 😀

#4 The Assassin’s Blade By Sarah J.Maas

This is an obvious given considering how in love I am with this series. This was one of my most anticipated release for the month of March so this has to be on my TBR pile for spring. This book consists of all five novellas of the Throne of Glass series which I absolutely MUST READ!!! Unfortunately, my local bookstore does not have the book so I will most likely have to order this online 😀 I can’t wait though!!!

#3 Panic By Lauren Oliver

If you read the summary of this book, it sounds like a contemporary version of the Hunger Games which definitely caught my interest. I hope to pick up a copy at the bookstore and check it out but with what people are saying it so far, I really hope that I do not get disappointed.

#2 Ignite Me By Tahereh Mafi

The first two books of this trilogy was such an awesome read and a lot of people have been raving about this book! I need to know how the trilogy ends. I. Need. To. Know. Which was why the final book of the Shatter Me series made it to the top 2 of this list 😀

And #1 goes to…

Half Bad By Sally Green

Summary: (Goodreads)

Half Bad by Sally Green is a breathtaking debut novel about one boy’s struggle for survival in a hidden society of witches.

You can’t read, can’t write, but you heal fast, even for a witch.

You get sick if you stay indoors after dark.

You hate White Witches but love Annalise, who is one.

You’ve been kept in a cage since you were fourteen.

All you’ve got to do is escape and find Mercury, the Black Witch who eats boys. And do that before your seventeenth birthday.

I have not read a book on witches for a very long time and in addition to that the premise of the book is just… awesome!!! I have a lot of expectations for this book. I expect the characters to be awesome. I definitely expect the world building to be awesome as well. I expect a lot of things about this book to be very awesome. I already had a copy reserved once my local bookstore gets a new shipment!!! EEEE!!!! I absolutely can’t wait!!!

Yup, so those are the top ten books on my Spring TBR list for 2014. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books or planning to read any of these books as well and yeah… thanks for reading guys!!!

What’s on your Spring TBR list for 2014?

Top Ten All Time Favorite Books in Romance

#10 Twilight By Stephanie Meyer

This book has definitely made this list because, not only did it get me through a horrible reading slump back in high school, but it really got me swooning over Edward Cullen. Without the movie in mind and completely focusing on the novel itself, I enjoyed reading this book. It made me smile and giggle on numerous occasions and at some point, made me wish I had some hot romance with a vampire 😀

#9 Fallen Series By Lauren Kate

While Twilight made me wish I had a vampire boyfriend, Fallen made me wish I had an angel boy-toy. This was one summer read (yes, I read this book during the summer) that I could not ever forget. I’m definitely Team Daniel on this one just because I remember how he made me blush that one summer.

#8 The Mara Dyer Series By Michelle Hodkin

I love NOAH! I absolutely love that guy! I love how he was there for Mara the entire way and I really have no idea why, but I enjoyed their little romance. I enjoyed reading about them and their little steamy escapades in his bedroom 😀 I’m looking forward to what happens between them in The Retribution of Mara Dyer.

#7 The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks

Like A Walk to Remember, The Notebook captured all of our hearts! This was also a splendid tear- jerker!

#6 A Walk to Remember By Nicholas Sparks

Book. Movie. I don’t care, this book made me fall in love. Despite the tragedy at the end of the novel, I fell in love with Landon. He’s like your stubborn bad boy who really does have a heart. *sigh*In addition to that, I always thought that they did a marvelous job in casting Shane West as Landon.

#5 The Mortal Instruments Series By Cassandra Clare

Man, where do I even begin with this romance?! If you have not read the book, do not panic, no spoilers here. However, I will say that the romance in this series is definitely like no other. It will play with a lot of your feels and may possibly crush your soul!!! That is all.

#4 Fall from Grace By Christine Zolendz

Woo boy, if you have not read this book I highly suggest you grab a copy right after reading this post! This is an NA novel that will totally get your juices flowing. No.Lie. This book is a definite must- read for fans of paranormal-angel- romance. This is like Fallen but on an even higher level. The romance was pretty hot and steamy, it’s crazy. Annnnndddd did I forget to mention that there are rockstars in this novel?! A hot, lean rockstar whose voice will take you to the moon and back!

#3 Fangirl By Rainbow Rowell

This has the cute and innocent kind of romance. The way Levi was with Cather is something that a lot of girls wish they could receive from their first time loves. Plus, this kind of reminded me of the first time my boyfriend and I had started dating. He read a lot of my Harry Potter Fan Fictions and although he’d tease me, he was always my biggest supporter and number one reader 😀

#2 Shatter Me Series By Tahereh Mafi

Complicated male characters with really, really, strong affections for the female protagonist. Check. Seriously! The feels that this books stirs up with every page is completely indescribable. I look forward to reading more and more of these characters after every chapter because they are that ah-mazing!

And the #1 spot goes to…

#1 Throne of Glass By Sarah J. Maas

Love triangles. Check! If there is one thing that I am a huge sucker for in the romance department, it would have to be love triangles. But the love triangle in this book was not the “Ima-rip-your-lungs-out” but the “-we’ll-see-who-she-chooses” kind of thing and I like that. Know what I mean? The guys aren’t physically fighting for her-yet- but are laying out her cards and allowing her to choose on her own. And this makes it so complicated for me to choose who’s team I’ll be in because both guys are just so nice, protective and supportive. *sigh* decisions, decisions.

And that is my Top Ten All Time Favorite Books in Romance 😀

What are your favorites?

Top Ten Authors I’ve Never Read

#10 Neal Schusterman

I have heard nothing but awesome things about Neal Schusterman. I heard that he is one heck of a story teller. I currently own Unwind, which has been on my TBR pile for about a month now. I really, really hope that I will get to it soon 😀

#9 Libba Bray

Bloggers and book tubers are always raving about at least one of her books and have nothing but exciting things to say about her stories. I really can’t wait to read one of her books. I currently own The Diviners and A Great and Terrible Beauty. I hope to get to them soon. I would also want to read Beauty Queens. It just sounds so intriguing to me and with what people say about it, entertaining.

#8 Kami Garcia

I have heard mixed reviews about some of Kami Garcia’s book, particularly Beautiful Creatures. Maybe that’s why I kept putting off reading her books and plus I have already seen the movie, which I enjoyed. Nevertheless, I’m still interested in reading her books. I currently have Beautiful Creatures which I borrowed from the library. I’m hoping to read a few chapters from it and if I do like it, I will pick up my own copy 😀

#7 Lauren DeStefano

I own the entire Chemical Gardens Trilogy but I have not gotten around to reading it. Well technically it’s my sister’s copies but the books are currently residing on my bookshelf in my room. I hope to get to this trilogy as well, but probably not anytime soon.

#6 Cinda Williams Chima

I have been into fantasy lately and just recently, I purchased a copy of The Demon King and my fiancé gave me a copy of The Warrior Heir, two of Ms. Chima’s books. I am so looking forward to reading them. I’m planning to read them this month! I am so excited!

#5 Maria V. Snyder

I have heard so many amazing things about Poison study that I just had to grab a copy for myself. I went on amazon and placed an order for Poison Study. It should be arriving in a couple of days. I can’t wait to read it. I know, I know it’s about dang time!

#4 Rick Riordan

I know, I know… how can you not have read the Percy Jackson series?! I hope to get to the Percy Jackson series sometime this year. I have heard so many positive things about the series. I saw the movies though and they were pretty interesting; although some people say that the movie plots deviated from the book plot.

#3 Veronica Roth

Yes! I swear, I’ll be getting to reading her works soon since Divergent will be coming out this month. My brother had actually introduced me to Divergent two ago but I never got around to it… i don’t know why. But better late than never right?!

#2 Stephanie Perkins

I have heard nothing but awesome things about Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door. So I really can’t wait to get to those. These are two of the most over- hyped books on both the blogging world and on book tube. It’s cray! I know that there’s a third book that will be coming out soon so I’ll be keeping an eye out for that.

#1 Brandon Sanderson

I have been itching to read The Rithmatist since I’ve heard about it on Peruse Project! I heard that Brandon Sanderson is a fantastic fantasy author and storyteller. I just can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of any of his works., particularly The Mistborn Trilogy and/or The Rithmatist 😀

Those are my Top Ten Authors that I have not read.

Top Ten Rewind: Books I’d Want On A Desert Island

Hey guys so on this Top Ten segment I will be listing the Top Ten books that I would want with me if I ever get stuck on a desert island 😀 Clicking on the cover picture will lead you to it’s Amazon page 😀

#10 The Knife of Never Letting Go By Patrick Ness

This is on my TBR list so I figured that this might make a good read on a desert island 😀

#9 The Demon King By Cinda Williams Chima

Just like my #10 choice, this might make a good read while on a deserted island 😀

#8 The Guardian Society By J.D. Kirkland

This was such a fun book!!! I honestly cannot see myself without this book so this is a must bring for me!!! I love the action and the romance in this book. J.D. Kirkland did such an ah- mazing job!!! Must READ people!!! Go get it now!!!

#7 Catching Fire By Suzanne Collins

Ahhh!!! A lot of my feels are still pretty attached to this book. I just can’t seem to let it go ergo I need this with me if I were to be stuck on a deserted island.

#6 The Evolution of Mara Dyer By Michelle Hodkin

Despite the fact that this book will probably give me the heebie-jeebies throughout the evening while I’m all alone at night, it’s a risk that I am willing to take for this book. Yep, believe or not. This book is so psychologically awesome! It’s nothing that I’ve ever read before. Michelle Hodkin did such a fabulous job.

#5 Shatter Me By Tahereh Mafi

This amazing read will probably save me through countless hours of boredom! I absolutely enjoyed reading this book the first time around and I highly doubt that it’ll change in the future.

#4 The Archived By Victoria Schwab

This book will help me keep me on my toes. It’ll always remind to continue to persevere and basically to always remain brave in order to survive.

#3 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows By J.K. Rowling

This book… oh man, this book… this book is such a big part of me; a big part of who I am. So in order to keep myself together on that deserted island, I must have this book with me. Plus, there is a lot about this book that would be enough reason to do what it takes to survive. It may not tell me specifically or step by step how to survive but just by knowing that the book is with me, what it signifies, will push my drive to live even further. A bit melodramatic?! I think not!!!

#2 Fangirl By Rainbow Rowell

Like Harry Potter, this book represents so much of who I am. I AM A FANGIRL AND I AM PROUD OF IT!!!

And my #1 pick is…

#1 Throne of Glass By Sarah J .Maas

OMG!!! THE BOOK THAT I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT!!! This book is so amazing. If I were to perish in a deserted island, I’d die happy with this book in my hands! This is such a great read and a definite re- read. I have a copy of this book on an ebook format but I need a physical copy so I’m currently working on that 😀

So that is my Top Ten choice for this week’s theme!

What books would you want to have with you on a desert island?

Top Ten Reasons Why I Love Being a Blogger/ Reader

# 10 Keeps me occupied. The first (not necessarily the top 1) reason why I love blogging and reading is because it keeps me occupied during those long summer nights. Blogging is a lot more new to me and to this day I am so glad that I started Books and Iced Coffee. It has saved me from thousands of hours of boredom and apart from that, I felt more productive after completing every book and every blog entry.

# 9 Sense of Adventure. Reading books fulfills my sense of adventure, like a lot. I live on a pretty small island and even though it is pretty well- developed, there is still a limit to the things that you can do on island. So as you can see, reading and blogging comes in pretty handy during those times when I crave for an adventure, which is most of the time 😀

#8 Stories and Characters. I love reading because I love diving into new worlds because not all worlds are the same. Like in the world of the paranormal, witches, wizards and necromancers are different in the Harry Potter world, the Mortal Instruments world and in The Lord of the Rings world. I absolutely love reading all the stories within them, especially the characters! I love reading about the characters, who they are, what they do, who they fall in love with, who the heroine is, who the villain is, who dies and who lives. I love ’em as one cannot live (exist in this case) without the other.

7.  Improves my reading skills.  Yes, one of the main reasons why I love reading is because of my need to consistently improve on my reading skills. Whether it’s to improve on picking up more information as I speed read or retaining more information or expanding my vocabulary. Either way I’ll always find something to improve on as I read.

#6 Creativity. If there’s one thing I love about blogging, it would have to be designing and creating graphics. When creating this blog, I spent countless of hours in deciding what theme should be used, creating my signature, banners, buttons and pages. I loved it and this is something that I’m always looking forward to when it comes to blogging- looking for an opportunity to create and design.

# 5 Improves my writing skills. Just like how reading helps me improve my reading skills, I blog to improve my writing skills. I didn’t exactly major in English so I feel like there’s still a lot of areas that need improvement and I feel like writing more through blogging would help me in those areas.

# 4 Trying out new online stuff. Prior to blogging, there were a few things that I never thought of doing such as emailing publishers, being contacted by authors and other book bloggers and readers among many others. After I had started blogging, I began to have sun in so many ways that involved a personal hobby and it is definitely something that I could see myself doing in the long run 😀

# 3 Booktube! I love Booktube! I have met so many incredible people through Booktube and I have also discovered so many great authors and books through them. Each Booktuber, so they are called, have their own sense of style that is clearly reflected through their videos. In addition to that, their individual personalities make each video different from the next and are just so enjoyable to watch. Oh and did I mention the book hauls and bookshelves?! Man, I am taken aback by how avid book readers own sooooooo many books!!! I’m serious! Go to youtube, check out a booktuber’s challenge and watch their bookshelf tour! Some of them own, especially the popular booktubers, own massive bookshelves! And I mean massive! Not only that, some people have massive book hauls. And I’m not talking about 5-6 books, I’m talking about 12, 20, or even 50 books introduced in a single book haul! Don’t believe me, check out YouTube…right now! To help you get started, check out my previous Friday Favorite post here.

# 2 Meeting new people. Since I started Books and Iced Coffee I have met so many great people from across the country and the world! I have met bloggers. vloggers, authors and publishers and they were all so nice and s friendly! One of the best things about meeting new people besides gaining new friends, I got a lot of awesome tips and advice on blogging and awesome book recommendations from people who have the same interest as me in YA book genres.

# 1 I just love Reading and Writing!  My love for reading and having the opportunity to share my thoughts and feelings about a particular book brings me so much joy and satisfaction. To this day I continue to questions why it took me so long to discover the world of book blogging. I mean, I love reading and I love writing and I’m almost always online *sighs* I just don’t know why I never put three and three together until now. But I’m here now and I can see myself blogging for years to come 😉

That’s it for me on this week’s Top Ten Tuesday 😀

Are you a blogger / reader? Let me know why you love doing what you’re doing down below 😀
