Hey everyone please welcome Aneeqah from My Not So Real Life Book Blog!
What got you inspired to start a blog?
I was inspired originally by my lovely librarian, Ms. B. A small group of my friends and I were at a book club meeting, just chatting about books, when she mentioned that she was going to stop blogging. Curious, all of us asked what blogging even was, and why she was quitting. After an hour or so, we all had decided that we wanted to be co-bloggers, and she was more than thrilled by the idea, since that would take some pressure off of her. Later on, about 6 months later after having so much fun getting into the book blogging community, Ms. B suggested that I start my own blog so I could do my own thing. I was extremely hesitant at first, not knowing if I could do it, but then I decided to finally take the plunge. And so, about a year and a half later, here I am! =)
What is your life like outside of blogging?
Stressful? I’m not sure if that’s the best word, haha. I go to an extremely competitive high school, with an even more competitive rank system, and so every test, every assignment counts overall. I also have a pretty hardcore schedule, and with standardized testing coming up… not fun. =P But I have some seriously awesome friends, who are actually a lot like me, and a supportive family, so that makes things a lot better. I’m really grateful for everything that I have, because I really am fortunate. It just gets a little hard to remember with all the stress flying around. 😉
Any advice/ tips to those who would like to start a book blog?
1. Look around before you start. There are so many different book blogs, and just as many successful ones. Take a look at what they do what makes those blogs successful. Get a grasp of how blogging works so you don’t make all those ‘newbie’ mistakes. Co-blog for a while if you can. I found that so helpful to get a feel for book blogging before I jumped in on my own.
2. Have passion. Book blogging takes a lot of time, and sometimes blogging means sacrificing some time for other things that you like doing. You have to be passionate about what you’re doing in order to find the fuel to keep going. Book blogging has its awesome moments, but it has its rough moments too, and you have to be determined enough to continue if you want to have those awesome moments.
Book(s) (include Author)? Divergent by Veronica Roth (I mean, come on), The Darkest Mind by Alexandra Bracken (the 2nd is just as good!), Unwind by Neal Shusterman, The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness (so underrated but SO good), Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, Grave Mercy by RL LaFevers, and Champion by Marie Lu. (Yeah, I think I’m terrible at narrowing things down!).
Favorite genre? YA Dystopian/Fantasy
Favorite drink? Simply Apple Apple Juice (this stuff is perfect)
