Hello everybody! Please welcome Christine Zolendz, author of the Mad World Series!
What inspired you to be a writer? Any person or event?
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to make books. Anything that had to do with books. I went to college for my Bachelors of Fine Arts and majored in illustration and cartooning, because I thought I would be a children’s book artist. Life got in the way though and I ended up being a teacher. When I had my second daughter, Emily, I stayed home with her and I started writing again while she took naps.
Did you ever consider any other careers?
I’ve been a public school teacher for more than ten years. But, I don’t love it like I love writing.
How did you come up with the idea of Fall from Grace?
I wanted to write a story about angels, so I started doing some research on them. In my research I read parts of the Dead Sea Scrolls, which held a book titled ‘The Book of Enoch.’ It told the story of the Watchers, The Grigori, a band of angels that supposedly living on earth thousands of years ago. Then fell in love with human woman and created the Nephilim. They were all punished for the whole matter, but I got to thinking…imagine being one of those human girls-in LOVE with an angel. And Grace’s voice started talking to me and I wrote down everything she said.
Were the characters inspired by people you know?
I get a lot of my character’s personalities from the people I know, but there was no specific Shane (can you imagine?) or Grace that really existed.
How did you come up with the title? Were there any other possibilities?
Any other genres that you might consider writing?
In January I will be publishing a contemporary romance. It sort of has suspense and drama in it, but there’s no paranormal element. I would love to try my hand at a few genres. I could definitely see myself trying to do horror.
Favorite food/ drink/ movie?
My favorite food has to be peanut butter. My favorite drink is COFFEE and Coke Zero (in my house we call it Crack Zero because I’m so addicted to it!) My favorite movies are (I can’t choose just one) Pride and Prejudice, The Goonies, Boondock Saints and crap, a lot more.
Anything you would like to mention?
Thank you so much Christine for the opportunity to interview you! I am looking forward to your future releases 🙂
